Hurricon 2019 – Starship Troopers

So, Hurricon has been and gone, and now it’s time for the tales to be told.

First up Starship Troopers. When Jean and I are known as the Bug Guy and Bug Girl, then you know that we’re known for a good game, and this convention was no exception.

8 squads of Troopers were sent down to a planet to hold the ground while Col. Jenkins used his psychic powers to find the Communication Brain under the Planet’s surface, so the Pathfinders could deploy the Mole Nuke to bury into the ground.

In the end, only half the Troopers got off the planet, the rest earning their citizenship certificates, a little thing we have knocked up to give those players whose squads get wiped out.

The game went really well. We tried to build up the menace, with a slow but steady build up of bugs, keeping the big ones out of the fight until closer to the end, and it really played out that way.

We were surprised and really happy to be voted the ‘Table of the Session’ by the organising committee!A bonus was in the flea market on the Friday night. Someone had a crashed shuttle miniature for sale (an old GW piece)… Guess we know what the scenario will involve at Recon in April!
